The Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH was founded by Wilhelm Maybach and his son Karl Maybach in 1909, was a German company dedicated to manufacture engines for zeppelins (weapons) and later of great expectation and luxury cars. The company has historical roots with the involvement of its founder who was the technical director of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (Daimler).
